The Top 3 DCEU Movies

By John Gulick

Enter the DC Extended Universe

Welcome, fellow DC fans! Today I look back at some of the top DCEU films that have made it to the big screen. From dark battles to cringe moments, the DC Extended Universe has brought us some forgettable movies and a few decent ones. So get ready to relive the top 3 DCEU movies.

The Suicide Squad Release poster   1. The Suicide Squad

"The Suicide Squad" is clearly the top movie from the DCEU. It had great characters and a clever story. But what James Gunn got right was that he didn't try to force the humor as all other DCEU movies have done in the past making for more eye-rolls than laughs. John Cena and Sly were great in their roles and a decent story makes this the clear #1 of the DCEU.

Black Adam Theatrical release poster   2. Black Adam

"Black Adam" was a surprisingly good movie that unfortunately fell victim to the DCEU box office curse. A strong supporting cast allowed Dwayne Johnson to stay reserved as the Black Adam character which is a welcome change to his normal wise-cracking action roles. Not much else can be said about the movie. It had some decent battle scenes but also had some odd small-feeling scenes like the townspeople fighting zombies. Too bad there wasn't a better villain and since Shazam is ruined with horrible stories and even worse acting, it's not likely we'll ever get what we deserve.

Green Lantern Theatrical release poster   3. Green Lantern

"Green Lantern" has an odd love/hate fan base. Some people including Ryan Reynolds hate the movie, yet most movie buffs that I've discussed this with really enjoy this movie. I know the true believers are upset that this isn't officially a DCEU movie, but most people don't know that Green Lantern was supposed to start the DCEU. But the Powers That Be at WB decided it didn't do well enough to be the launching point and the rest is history. Maybe they should have considered it since every movie is terrible except Top 2 of this list.

Honorable Mention: The Batman

I'm not sure of the logic behind why "The Batman" is separate from the DCEU. Like past Batman movies, The Batman felt like three movies that kind of connected, but not really. I felt like "The Batman" ended two different times and Robert Pattinson's portrayal of an emo Bruce Wayne was cringe at best, but I did like him whenever he put on the Batsuit. The Ridler's trying to act like Mick Foley's Mankind was a little too much, but I still enjoyed the movie.

Conclusion: Rejecting the DC Failures

There they are – the top 3 DCEU movies plus one alternative. Warner Brothers needs to up its live-action movie game or sell the rights because they have ruined one character after another and the movies somehow get progressively worse.
